Mahaniok | Ready for our new channel?
Mahaniok | Ready for our new channel?

As we’re ramping up episodes in English (13 already recorded across LA, SF and NYC, 5 published), we decided to start a new YouTube channel for English-only episodes.
It’s painful in the moment as our existing channel already has a loyal listener base (73 recorded episodes, 52 published, 90k subscribers, 29M+ views in 10 months) and it’s hard to bootstrap a new channel. However, we see this as a right decision long-term as the channels will eventually be serving different audiences geography-wise. From now on, we’ll be maintaining two separate channels.
What can you expect from a new channel? Exactly the same thing we did throughout 2023. Weekly conversational masterclasses from inspiring masters in different fields. High density of insights, long form (2-4 hours), deep dives, canonical interviews on evergreen topics such as entrepreneurship, investing, startups, AI, art, science, education, etc. It’s nFactorial Podcast. But English only.
The following episode was recorded in NYC. Our guest is Ihar Mahaniok, founder and managing partner at Geek Ventures, VC firm that focuses on supporting immigrant founders building US tech companies. As an angel investor at pre-seed/seed stage, he backed 5 unicorns including Instacart, PandaDoc, People.ai, Chainalysis, Airbyte, and Jeeves, among other 100+ companies.
Only some of the questions we discussed. How did opportunities to invest so early in the aforementioned unicorns come about? What process did he follow to raise $23m for his venture fund? How to become an LP in a fund? How to calculate the optimal fund size? How to optimally split the fund into first checks and follow-on investments? What mistakes do immigrant founders make when they start businesses in the US? I love going into the nitty-gritty and this episode was no exception!
